Oklahoma Attorney Ky Corley

When you’re dealing with a criminal charge or a case that overlaps with family-law issues, you need a lawyer who understands how those worlds collide. Oklahoma attorney Ky Corley practices both criminal and family law. He has practiced extensively in Payne County, surrounding areas, and courts across Oklahoma. On many matters, The Urbanic Law Firm works with Ky to bring that experience to clients who need focused, real-world defense strategy.

How attorney Ky Corley approaches your case

Most Oklahoma criminal and family-law cases turn on details: who said what, what was captured on video, how evidence was gathered, and which deadlines are approaching. Ky’s work is grounded in careful file review, early issue spotting, and clear communication so you’re not left guessing what comes next.

Whether your case is in Stillwater, Payne County, or another part of the state, Ky focuses on practical questions: what charges are realistic, where the state’s case is vulnerable, how your family situation might be affected, and which strategies give you the best chance to protect your record and your future.

Areas of law Ky Corley handles

Ky’s practice includes both criminal and family law, with significant experience in Stillwater and the surrounding communities.

  • Criminal defense: Felony and misdemeanor cases, from assault and battery to theft, DUI-related issues, and other Oklahoma charges.
  • Family law: Divorce, custody, and related disputes that can overlap with criminal allegations or protective-order issues.
  • Stillwater & Payne County courts: Extensive experience in and around Stillwater, with additional work in courts throughout Oklahoma.

If your case touches both criminal and family-law issues, it’s important to understand how a decision in one court can affect what happens in another. Ky’s combined experience in these areas helps you think through the full picture.

Education and background

  • Education: Graduated magna cum laude from Oklahoma City School of Law in 2015, earning CALI Awards in Secured Transactions and E-Commerce & Banking.
  • Licensed in Oklahoma: Admitted to practice law in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Stillwater-based practice: Maintains a law practice in Stillwater and has practiced extensively there, in the surrounding areas, and in courts across Oklahoma.

Appellate, federal, and complex litigation experience

Ky has appealed multiple cases to the Oklahoma Supreme Court and other Oklahoma appellate courts, briefing and arguing issues that shape how Oklahoma law is applied in real disputes.

  • Calvert v. Swinford, 2016 OK 100: The Oklahoma Supreme Court addressed when negligence and deed-reformation claims accrue in a mineral-rights dispute, holding that the limitations period begins when the deed is filed of record and affirming summary judgment for the abstract company.
  • Montes v. State ex rel. Oklahoma Department of Human Services, 2019 OK CIV APP 42: The Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals vacated a district court order and set aside DHS’s decision to place a childcare provider on the Restricted Registry, correcting legal errors in the agency’s process and emphasizing proper review of administrative decisions.

Beyond state appeals, Ky has represented creditors in bankruptcy proceedings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Oklahoma and has worked on an appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, giving him experience with federal procedure and complex financial disputes.

Ky’s trial experience includes numerous jury and non-jury trials in Oklahoma, as well as trying a case in Sedgwick County, Kansas, which adds a multi-state perspective on how judges and juries evaluate evidence in high-stakes cases.
